Homework
Homework at Our School
Each week, your child’s class teacher will set homework that supports and reinforces the learning taking place in the classroom. The aim of this homework is to help secure key knowledge and address any gaps in understanding, ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.
Homework tasks are designed to be manageable and meaningful, taking no more than 30 minutes to complete. They are structured so that children can complete them independently, helping to build confidence and responsibility in their learning.
We appreciate your support in encouraging your child to engage with their homework and celebrate their efforts.
Reading at home:
Learning to read takes lots of practice. Your child will cover the sounds and spellings at school, but the time you spend reading with them is worth every minute. We encourage you to read with your child as much as possible. Please record this in your child's reading journal whenever you do.
Maths at home:
Fluency in maths is essential in making progress in every year group. To support this, we subscribe to Numbots and Timestable Rockstars. We encourage children to log in to their accounts as much as possible and practise their number skills.
Our homework requirements are:
- Homework tasks set by the class teacher
- Reading with your child as much as possible, we recommend 3 times a week.
- Daily practice of number fluency using Numbots or Timestable Rockstars.
